It Has Been Written, So Be It

September 27, 2012

There are many places in scripture that highlight the difficulties faced when following the Lord God Almighty.  But it is not something that many Christians in America have considered in these latter generations, until recently.  We have all asked in prayer, for the supernatural protection of missionaries abroad, all the while, experiencing absolute peace and safety within the comforts of our homes and within our different congregations and even on school campuses across the country.  Such safety has been taken for granted to such an extent that believing such freedoms could ever be threatened in the good ol’ USA has never crossed the minds of many believers.

Such times of freedom are being threatened in a mighty way.  Many Christians will get up in arms about this change, you know, touting their righteous anger and claiming that we should stand up and fight.  But was it not Jesus Himself, that said we would experience persecution just as He had?  Jesus also did not support violence as the proper response.  Instead, He said to turn the other cheek.  These times we live in are no surprise to our Lord and Savior, for He is the beginning and the end and saw what the future held!  These times must be experienced, and we have to trust in His Supernatural protections again, instead of giving way to the world’s answer to such atrocities.  Violence is not the answer.  An eye for an eye will not work this time, just as it has never worked!  (I know some will argue this point, but I stand on this belief!)

Before Moses was born, the Egypt’s ruling pharaoh wanted all the Hebrew male infants to be thrown in the Nile River, in an attempt to stifle the growth of God’s people.  However, not only did Moses escape such a terrible fate, he ended up living in the Pharaoh’s own home!!  Later, when Moses grew older and found God, Our Most High Lord turned the tables on the Pharaoh. During Moses’ attempts to get the Pharaoh to “let his people go” from the bondage of slavery, God brought down plagues upon the Egyptians, because the Pharaoh continued to refuse.  God then instructed Moses to have all the Hebrews paint lamb’s blood over their door posts, because he was going to strike dead, all male infants in Egypt, except for those whose homes were protected by the blood of a yearling lamb.  The reason I am bringing up the past, is not only to highlight such atrocious attacks on God’s people, but also to show that it was God, not his people, who took vengeance upon the enemy!

Fast forward to 2012.  It is starting slowly, but Christians are in harm’s way once again!  You don’t believe me?  Well, right now, the violence against Christians have been isolated to foreign countries, but it’s happening a lot more than it’s being reported.  Here on American soil, the harm is not physical at the moment, as much as psychological.  Take these two Christian men, one in Arizona, and one in Florida, who have been persecuted for holding Bible studies within their homes.  The man in Arizona faced a huge SWAT team that ushered him to jail.  I thought this was supposed to be one nation, under God!?  Well the times, they are a changing, and not in a good way.

Thankfully, we have the Living Word to guide us through the coming dark times.  Will you be strong enough to endure such persecutions because of your love of the Lord?  Will you still be able to stand on the Solid Rock when darkness falls?  InRevelation 2, verse 10, it says, “Do not be afraid of what you are about to suffer. I tell you, the devil will put some of you in prison to test you, and you will suffer persecution for ten days. Be faithful, even to the point of death, and I will give you the crown of life.”
There’s something just as supernatural as today that we HAVE to rely on.  Just like in the days of Moses, we need to rely on the Blood of the Lamb to protect us, to supernaturally cover us and our homes in these hours and days ahead.  Pray, brothers and sisters, PRAY Jesus’ blood over your homes, over your hearts, over your heads and the heads of your loved ones, because His blood is just as powerful today, as the day it was first shed for you and me!

In 1Peter chapter 4, verses 12-16, we find this encouraging passage, “Dear friends, do not be surprised at the painful trial you are suffering, as though something strange were happening to you. But rejoice that you participate in the sufferings of Christ, so that you may be overjoyed when his glory is revealed. If you are insulted because of the name of Christ, you are blessed, for the Spirit of glory and of God rests on you. If you suffer, it should not be as a murderer or thief or any other kind of criminal, or even as a meddler. However, if you suffer as a Christian, do not be ashamed, but praise God that you bear that name.”

Do you not see that the perilous times are to be expected?  Do you think your preparations of food and water storage, weapons, and other provisions are going to save you??  Only the blood of Christ will save you!  Pray through the blood, pray for the protection of the blood…don’t trust in the ways of man, only trust in the ways of the Lord Jesus!!

I am taking the time to share these verses, not only to encourage you, and strengthen you, but so that you can absorb these promises like a sponge, these words will be your shield in the times to come.  Jesus Himself, offered us these morsels of wisdom, so as to be prepared for such occurrences to take place.  In Matthew chapter 5, in the bold red words of verses 10-12, we read, “Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.”

No where can I find instruction to strike back, to fight these things, I only find instruction and verses that warn to expect these perilous times and rejoice! “Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword?”-Romans 8:35

We are the only ones capable of separating ourselves from the Love and Salvation of the Lord.  Don’t let these perilous times cause you fear, for the Lord has promised us His protection from the enemy.  He says not to be afraid, for He is with us, AMEN!!!  However, there are those who will deny the Lord, they will cower in fear of the enemy and turn from their walk and their beliefs to save their own hides.  Such decisions to save themselves are predicted as well, and will have eternal consequences.  In Matthew chapter 13:10-23, Mark chapter 4:10-25 and Luke chapter 8:9-18, the Lord explains his parable of the four soils.  He mentions in Matthew chapter 13, verses 21 and 22, “But since he has no root, he lasts only a short time. When trouble or persecution comes because of the word, he quickly falls away. The one who received the seed that fell among the thorns is the man who hears the word, but the worries of this life and the deceitfulness of wealth choke it, making it unfruitful.”

So I am writing this to offer you hope, so that you will not be choked by fear when living as a Christian becomes a crime, penalized by imprisonment or even death.  I encourage you to engrave the following verses to memory, to let these promises live always within your heart.  For there may come a time that our bibles are stripped away from us.  It has happened before, and you know what they say about history repeating itself?!

He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.  Psalms 91:4

When my glory passes by, I will put you in a cleft in the rock and cover you with my hand until I have passed by.  Exodus 33:22

As for God, his way is perfect; the word of the LORD is flawless. He is a shield for all who take refuge in him.  Psalm 18:30

How priceless is your unfailing love! Both high and low among men find refuge in the shadow of your wings. Psalm 36:7

The LORD watches over you–the LORD is your shade at your right hand. Psalm 121:5

I have put my words in your mouth and covered you with the shadow of my hand–I who set the heavens in place, who laid the foundations of the earth, and who say to Zion, ‘You are my people. Isaiah 51:16

God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in times of trouble. Psalm 46:1

Go, my people, enter your rooms and shut the doors behind you; hide yourselves for a little while until his wrath has passed by. Isaiah 26:20

The LORD is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge. He is my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.  Psalm 18:2

The LORD is my light and my salvation-whom shall I fear? The LORD is the stronghold of whom shall I be afraid?  Psalm 27:1

For the LORD loves the just and will not forsake his faithful ones. They will be protected forever, but the offspring of the wicked will be cut off. Psalm 37:28

Goodness, I could go on and on, but this should be more than enough proof that The Lord will protect His children, in times of trouble…and if you end up dying for your faith, my goodness, what a way to get to the Lord’s feet even faster.  For death is but an instant, a blink of an eye moment, and our souls never die, HALLELUJAH!!!

Let this be your prayer: Psalm 40:11 “Do not withhold your mercy from me, O LORD; may your love and your truth always protect me.”

You may ask, what spurned this post on this day…well, here are links to two stories that put the fire under my feet to get this GOOD NEWS (the reminders of God’s protection and that these times are to be expected, and they also will be short-lived) out to all with eyes to see and ears to hear!

I hope this gives you peace and comfort, understanding and encourages you to continue to trust in the Lord and stay on the sunny side when there is barely any Light to be seen.  Because just as the dark times are inevitable, so too is the knowledge of the Final Victory of our Father in Heaven.  The ravenous beast may be making headway now, but his time on Earth is short, HALLELUJAH!!
